Hair Extensions Instructions & Tips

Here are some hair care tips to keep your human hair extensions looking healthy, manageable and re-usable.  With proper maintenance, human hair extensions from Carlie’s Beauty Supply can last from 6 months to up to 2.5 years!

Before you install your bundles, for best results, it is strongly recommended that you shampoo them twice and then deep condition (do not apply deep conditioner to the wefts) for the best results. When you rinse out the conditioner, rinse until there are no suds left.  Rinsing the conditioner out is one of the most important steps.  If you do not rinse it well, any residue or traces of product left in the hair may result in stiff or dull hair.  After thoroughly rinsing, let your bundles hang dry (use pants hangers) for best results.  Once dry (usually 24 hours-make sure wefts are dry), you’re all set to install!  Once you’ve installed our beautiful extensions, please don’t forget to send your selfies & feedback to support@carliesbeautysupply.com or tag us on Instagram @CarliesBeautySupply.  We love making you look good!

Maintenance Tips

  1. Use a sulfate- & alcohol-free shampoo, as these ingredients can dry the hair out. Make sure your shampoo & conditioner are deeply moisturizing and specialize in hydrating the hair. In the shampoo ingredients, look for things like Argan Oil, Moroccan Oil, or Keratin Oil.
  2. Treat this hair as if it’s growing out of your own head. Regular conditioning or Co-Washes help to keep your hair soft and manageable.  You can deep condition your virgin hair once a week but try to avoid the over-use of oil or heavy styling products as it can weigh the hair down & require more frequent co-washes.
  3. Using a paddle brush, gently brush your hair, daily, starting from the ends and working your way up towards your scalp. That is the simplest way to clear any tangles while keeping the pressure off the weft/scalp area. This will extend the lifespan of your extensions.
  4. At bedtime, brush hair as instructed in #3 to remove tangles, if any. Depending on the type of extensions you are wearing, you can wrap your hair, do a couple of big braids, or put into a high ponytail; then cover with a satin/silk head-scarf/bonnet.  Satin or silk pillow cases are also recommended for healthy hair care. Avoid sleeping on wet extensions.  You want to make sure your extensions are completely dry before sleeping on them.
